ECL Youth Ambassadors Programme

The ECL Youth Ambassadors Programme brings together an inspiring and dedicated community of young health advocates raising awareness about cancer prevention, using the European Code Against Cancer.

Meet our ECL Youth Ambassadors

The ECL Youth Ambassadors Programme empowers young health advocates to raise awareness about cancer prevention and play an active role in in decision-making at the EU and national level.

Since its launch in 2015, the programme has united young health advocates from over 30 countries across Europe, creating a dynamic network of students and young professionals from diverse fields such as medicine, public health, law, and political science.

Throughout the year, our Youth Ambassadors organise impactful activities, events and online campaigns to raise awareness about cancer prevention, guided by the European Code Against Cancer. They are supported by the Association of European Cancer Leagues (ECL) and national and regional cancer leagues from all over Europe.

The European Code Against Cancer

Cancer causes one in four deaths in the European Union. The good news? Over 40% of all cancer cases can be prevented.

The European Code Against Cancer is a set of recommendations on how to reduce your risk of cancer and is a key instrument for cancer prevention. It is based on the latest scientific evidence on cancer prevention, listing 12 easy tips that our Youth Ambassadors use to raise awareness in schools, local communities and online.

The European Code Against Cancer is an initiative of the European Commission and was developed by the WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).
