Juha Pekka Turunen is the President of the Association of European Cancer Leagues (ECL), and the General Secretary of the Cancer Society of Finland and Cancer Foundation Finland.

He is a medical doctor,  specialised in clinical pathology with special competency in health administration. He has diplomas for Health Executive MBA (eMBA), and for approved board member (HHJ).

He was the President of the Nordic Cancer Union between 2022 and 2023, and member of the Board starting 2024. Juha Pekka is currently a member of the Steering Committee of the first national cancer strategy in Finland and Chair for the noncommunicable disease network of Finnish organisations.
