
Nico is ECL’s Policy and Projects Officer. He coordinates ECL’s Prevention and Early Detection Working Group (P&ED WG), managing the advocacy activities and engagement of ECL’s members in this area to ensure their views and positions are heard. He monitors and strategically engages with political and regulatory developments in the field of cancer prevention and early detection, including tobacco control, environmental hazards, vaccination, and cancer screening.
Before joining ECL, Nico completed a 12 month internship with DAI, focussing on the management of EU-funded projects in the field of climate change, sustainable and climate-smart agriculture and political stability. Prior to this, he undertook an internship in Iloilo, Philippines, in which he worked for NGO LOOB in projects focussing on local community health and sustainable development.
Nico holds a Double MSc in Public Policy and Human Development from the United Nations University Merit, as well as a BA in International Development from the University of East Anglia. During his studies, Nico specialised in the influence of socio-economic and behavioural risk factors on transmission rates of infectious disease.
