At the initiative of Médicins Sans Frontières, together with thirteen other organisations, ECL co-signed an open letter to the European Union calling for the European Biotech Act to better respond to public health needs. Specifically, the signatories call for the rejection of any extension of Supplementary Protection Certificates that would delay access to more affordable generic medical products, and for the inclusion of binding and enforceable access commitments to ensure that technologies developed with EU support are available and accessible to all.
