Leyla is a medical student at the Azerbaijan Medical University. Since 2018, she has been working as a Research Assistant in the Nuclear Medicine Department of the National Centre of Oncology, successfully conducting several research projects which were published in international peer-reviewed journals. She has also taken part in a research project to carry out population based genetic studies regarding colorectal cancer risk in Azerbaijan at the Genetic Resources Institute of the National Academy of Sciences. She regularly attends medical conferences and international courses on oncology.
Leyla has also previously held the position of National Public Health Officer within AzerMDS – IFMSA Azerbaijan and run several projects regarding children’s health and raised awareness of the importance of blood donation and mental health. Her goal as an ECL Youth Ambassador is to contribute to the reduction of cancer risk in her country.
