During #EWAC2020 help the European Commission to

Shape Europe's Beating Cancer Plan

In 2020, ECL’s EWAC campaign will highlight and focus on shaping Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan (#EUCancerPlan) – a core priority of the European Commission on the health domain in the 2019-2024 legislature. During #EWAC2020, ECL will seek to create awareness about key aspects of cancer control and promote cancer leagues’ policy recommendations for European and national decision-makers.

ECL invites all cancer and health organisations to join us during this years campaign, to ensure Beating Cancer Plan well reflects wishes of civil society and contributes to well-being of all Europeans! Check out our EWAC Newsletter for more info.

#EWAC2020 will take place between Monday 25 May and Sunday 31 May 2020. Each day will focus on a different aspect of the cancer continuum.

In February 2020, European cancer leagues published their vision for how the European Plan can contribute to better cancer control, improved cancer care and tackling inequalities throughout the EU. During #EWAC2020, ECL will seek to create awareness about key aspects of cancer control and promote cancer leagues’ policy
recommendations for European and national decision-makers.

To mark World No Tobacco Day  we are partnering with the Global Center for Good Governance in Tobacco Control (GGTC), a partner of STOP on the global media competition “Expose Tobacco Industry Manipulation, Save the Next Generation” to raise awareness about tobacco industry interference and to engage the youth and development sector in communicating the dangers of tobacco industry interference.

The graphics collected, such as posters, memes, infographics, graphic interchange format (GIFs), and short videos, will form part of a publicly accessible library from which government and civil society advocates can draw to raise awareness about tobacco industry interference. The competition will be in line with the WHO’s World No Tobacco Day theme “Protecting youth from industry manipulation and preventing them from tobacco and nicotine use“.

-The Competition attracted  over 400 entries, at least 500,000 social media reach, and 19,000 online voters to participate in the competition.
