ANA FERNÁNDEZ MARCOS

Ana is a member of the Committee of Directors at the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) as Cancer Advocacy Director. She joined the AECC more than 20 years ago.

The AECC was founded in 1953 and it is the largest nation-wide NGO in Spain working to promote cancer prevention and early detection, to improve patients care and to fund research. The AECC is supported by more than 500.000 members and builds national and international alliances to advocate for equity and comprehensive, patient-centered cancer care. The AECC collaborates with health, social and scientific authorities, but is financially independent.

Ana is a specialist in Palliative Care as well as Clinical and Health Psychology. She holds a bachelor degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Behavioral Intervention in Health Psychology. Before becoming a cancer advocate, she was treating and supporting cancer patients and their relatives for 10 years.

Since October 2021, Ana is the Second Vice-president of the National Committee for Smoking Prevention. She has been a member of the National Cancer Strategy and the National Palliative Care Strategy under the auspices of the Minister of Health for over 10 years. 

Ana is married and has two children. She is a passionate advocate and strongly believes that a world with no fear of cancer is possible.
